ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

CREATING A DIALOGUE BETWEEN THE MARK MAKING ON THE CANVAS AND THE INNER LIFE OF THE OBSERVER

M. Croul is a contemporary artist working in large-scale painting and sculpture. Educated at Parsons, FIDM, and Art Center College of Design, she began her creative career in California’s surf industry, where she blended fine art with fashion through swimwear and board short design, color theory, and trend forecasting.

A motorcycle accident in 2000 and the period of memory loss that followed marked a profound turning point. The experience drew her back into visual art with renewed intensity, sparking a deep and lifelong commitment to painting and sculptural expression.

Her work has been featured in exhibitions at 241 Gallery, A4 Gallery, and Seven Degrees, along with curated private showcases including Land and Sea in Newport Beach. Her recent collections Stolen Roses and The Daisy Series are represented by FORRÉ Gallery in Aspen, Colorado, where she has achieved consistently strong collector engagement and sales momentum.

Marilie views art as a living force, a catalyst for conversation, for connection, and for shifting the energy of the spaces in which her work hangs. Her paintings invite the viewer into layered narratives of light, texture, and emotion, creating a dialogue between the mark making on the canvas and the inner life of the observer.

She creates from Colorado, Nevada, and California, where the sun soaked coastal light and laid back sophistication of Laguna and Los Angeles infuse her work with warmth, freedom, and a distinctly contemporary energy.
